Idineklara ng PNP ang “full operational readiness” para sa hosting ng bansa sa 48th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related meetings sa Cebu, na opisyal na magsisimula sa May 8.
Sa statement, sinabi ni PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. na isinailalim ang buong pwersa ng pulisya sa mission-critical footing.
Una nang inihayag ng mga awtoridad na mahigit 7,300 personnel mula sa PNP, AFP, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Health, at iba pang partner agencies ang idineploy sa ilalim ng Task Group Central Visayas ng Committee on Security, Peace and Order, and Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Saklaw ng deployment ang venue security, convoy and route protection, coastal and air surveillance, traffic management, medical assistance, at emergency response operations.
