Magkatuwang na isinulong nina House Speaker Faustino Bojie Dy III at Majority Floor Leader Sandro Marcos ang House Bill No. 8834 o KALINGA Act.
Ang KALINGA Act ay nagbibigay garantiya sa mabilis, targeted, at automatic gov’t response kapag sumisipa ang presyo ng petrolyo at cost of living.
Ayon kay Cong. Marcos, isang galaw lang ng presyo ng langis lahat ay agad tumataas mula pamasahe, pagkain, at kuryente.
Pero paglilinaw ni Marcos hindi ito ayuda lang, kundi proteksyon.
Ilan sa component ng KALINGA Program ay:
Fuel Price Stabilization; Energy Supply, Security, at Inventory Management component.
Targeted Assistance; Essential Goods and Logistics Stabilization; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Continuity Component.
Energy Conservation and Demand Reduction Component, at Flexible Fiscal and Regulatory Measures Component.
Ang vulnerable sectors o beneficiaries nito subalit hindi limitado sa low-income household, disadvantaged at underemployed wor-kers, public transport drivers, farmers, fisherfolk, MSMEs, OFWs at iba pang sektor na kikilalanin ng KALINGA Inter Agency task Force.
